A. INTRODUCTION TO KALI LINUX
Kali Linux is a very powerful operating system. It is widely used in Cyber Security, Ethical Hacking and Digital Forensics because many tools related to these fields are pre-installed in it and easy to use. It is command-line based operating system and its maximum work is done in terminal. It is open source operating system, it means that we can do our own programming into Kali Linux and can contribute for it by developing tools related to Cyber security, Digital Forensic Ethical Hacking, Malware Analysis. Kali Linux is also best for Programmers and Developers because it provides easy support for different programming languages like C, C++, Java, JavaScript etc.
B. BASIC DIRECTORIES OF KALI LINUX
HOME DIRECTORY:
In this following folders are located as in windows and their work is same as in windows.
Downloads Videos Music Pictures Documents Public Templates Desktop
FILE SYSTEM:
It is the most important directory of the Kali Linux. In this directory many important sub directories are located and now we will discuss all these number wise.
(Boot) has information about grub boot loader
(Dev) is not important and it has locked files
(Etc) it has folders related to services
(Home) is same as described
(Lib) has services same to etc.
(Opt) is optional and has optional things used externally
(Media) has external parameters like USB, DVD etc.
(Prac) has information of services
(Root) is only accessible to super user and it has many important information
(Var) has backups and some information
(Temp) to save temporary files
(Usr) has games, bin, x64, x32 etc.
(Trash) is like recycle bin
File system is not too important in normal use but it is some important for hackers to do the works and for some programming and during hacking we need these directories.
C. MENU BAR
It is also called panel, toolbar. It has power off options, to lock
screen, computer, notification area, net connection, timing, volume option, Kazam
to take screenshots to record etc. Terminal, Application, that are almost like
windows.
